- Short-term symptomatic relief of anxiety and tension associated with psychoneurosis
- Pruritus in chronic urticaria, atopic dermatitis and contact dermatitis
- Pre-medication before surgical and dental procedures where sedation is intended
- Adjunctive control of anxiety and agitation during acute alcohol withdrawal
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine, cetirizine, aminophylline or other piperazine derivatives
- Congenital or acquired QT-interval prolongation, or concurrent therapy with other QT-prolonging medicines
- Pregnancy and breast-feeding
- Caution in narrow-angle glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, epilepsy, myasthenia gravis, and hepatic or renal impairment
Side effects
- Drowsiness, sedation and headache, most noticeable early in treatment
- Anticholinergic effects — dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, urinary retention
- Dose-related QT-interval prolongation and, rarely, cardiac arrhythmia
- Uncommon hypersensitivity reactions including rash and fixed drug eruption

What is Atramist-25 tablet used for?
Atramist-25 contains Hydroxyzine Hydrochloride 25 mg. It is prescribed for short-term relief of anxiety and tension, for itching linked to urticaria and eczema, and as pre-medication before surgical or dental procedures. Use it only as directed by your physician.
Does Atramist-25 cause drowsiness?
Yes. Hydroxyzine is a first-generation antihistamine that acts on the central nervous system, so sedation is expected and is sometimes the intended effect. Avoid driving, operating machinery and alcohol while taking it, and tell your physician if drowsiness carries over into the next day.
Is Atramist-25 the same as an ordinary allergy tablet?
No. Non-drowsy antihistamines such as cetirizine and levocetirizine are the usual choice for day-to-day allergic rhinitis. Atramist-25 is a sedating antihistamine reserved for anxiety states, pre-procedural sedation and distressing night-time itching, and it is a prescription medicine.
