Ondimist 2ml Injection is used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting caused by cytotoxic chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and to prevent and treat post-operative nausea and vomiting. It is given by a healthcare professional as directed by the treating physician.
Yes – Ondimist is Allomedix Healthcare's brand of ondansetron. The injection contains ondansetron hydrochloride dihydrate at 2 mg per ml in a 2 ml ampoule, so a prescription written for either the brand or the molecule refers to the same active drug.
It should not be given to anyone with a known hypersensitivity to ondansetron or another 5-HT3 antagonist, to patients taking apomorphine, or to patients with congenital long QT syndrome. Caution is also needed where electrolytes are disturbed or other QT-prolonging drugs are in use.
