Frequently asked questions

What is Meftamist Plus DS Syrup used for in children?

It is a prescription oral suspension of Mefenamic Acid and Paracetamol used for fever and for pain with an inflammatory element, such as sore throat, earache, teething discomfort or aches during a viral illness. A paediatrician decides whether it is appropriate for a particular child.

What does DS mean in Meftamist Plus DS Syrup?

DS stands for double strength. Each 5 ml carries Mefenamic Acid 100 mg and Paracetamol 250 mg, so the required milligrams are delivered in less liquid than a standard-strength preparation. It also means the quantity must never be assumed from experience with an ordinary syrup.

Can Meftamist Plus DS Syrup be given without a prescription?

No. It is a Schedule H medicine and is dispensed only against a valid prescription. Because it contains an NSAID as well as paracetamol, the amount and the interval between doses must be set by a physician and measured with a proper dosing device.
