Rx GastroenterologyIndications
- Benign gastric and duodenal ulcer — healing and maintenance
- Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) and oesophagitis
- Zollinger–Ellison syndrome (high-dose)
- NSAID-associated dyspepsia and acid-related gastropathy
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Ranitidine or other H2-antagonists
- Porphyria — Ranitidine may precipitate attacks
- Pregnancy and breast-feeding — consult physician before use
Side effects
- Headache and dizziness (generally mild and transient)
- Constipation or diarrhoea
- Reversible confusional states in elderly or renally impaired patients (rare)
