Indications
- Acute low back pain and lumbago accompanied by muscle spasm
- Cervical spondylosis, torticollis and neck stiffness
- Musculoskeletal pain following sprains, strains and sports injury
- Painful muscle spasm associated with osteoarthritis and fibrositis
- Post-traumatic muscle guarding and myalgia
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to aceclofenac, paracetamol, chlorzoxazone or other NSAIDs
- Active peptic ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding or a history of NSAID-induced perforation
- Active liver disease or significant hepatic impairment, since both paracetamol and chlorzoxazone are handled by the liver
- Severe renal impairment and severe (NYHA IV) heart failure
- Aspirin- or NSAID-precipitated asthma, urticaria or angio-oedema; third trimester of pregnancy
Side effects
- Drowsiness, dizziness or light-headedness attributable to the muscle-relaxant component
- Nausea, dyspepsia, abdominal discomfort or diarrhoea
- Headache and, less often, blurred vision
- Harmless orange to reddish discolouration of the urine caused by chlorzoxazone
- Skin rash or pruritus; raised liver enzymes with prolonged use

What is Aceclomist-MR tablet used for?
Aceclomist-MR is prescribed for musculoskeletal pain in which muscle spasm is part of the picture u2014 acute low back pain, torticollis, cervical spondylosis with stiffness and pain after sprains or strains. The chlorzoxazone 250 mg in it is a centrally acting muscle relaxant, while aceclofenac and paracetamol handle the inflammation and pain.
Does Aceclomist-MR cause drowsiness?
Drowsiness, dizziness and light-headedness are recognised effects of chlorzoxazone, so they can occur with Aceclomist-MR. Patients are usually advised to see how the tablet affects them before driving or operating machinery, and to avoid alcohol while taking it. Report persistent sedation to your physician.
What is the difference between Aceclomist-MR and Aceclomist-SP?
Both share aceclofenac 100 mg and paracetamol 325 mg. Aceclomist-MR adds chlorzoxazone 250 mg for muscle spasm, whereas Aceclomist-SP adds serratiopeptidase 10 mg for soft-tissue swelling. The MR tablet suits spasm-dominant back and neck pain; the SP tablet suits pain with visible oedema.
