Indications
- Prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting induced by cytotoxic chemotherapy
- Prevention and treatment of radiotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting
- Prevention and treatment of post-operative nausea and vomiting
- Patients who need an oral antiemetic in liquid form rather than a tablet
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to ondansetron or to other selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonists
- Concomitant use with apomorphine, with which profound hypotension and loss of consciousness have been reported
- Congenital long QT syndrome
- Caution in hepatic impairment and where other QT-prolonging medicines are being taken
Side effects
- Headache and a sensation of warmth or flushing
- Constipation
- Hiccups and, occasionally, dizziness
- Transient rise in liver enzymes and, rarely, hypersensitivity reactions or QT prolongation
