Indications
- Acute migraine attacks, particularly where nausea or vomiting accompanies the headache
- Dysmenorrhoea and other menstrual pain associated with nausea
- Pain and stiffness of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and ankylosing spondylitis
- Acute gout and acute musculoskeletal or soft-tissue pain
- Painful inflammatory conditions in which anti-emetic cover is also required
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to naproxen, domperidone, aspirin or any other NSAID, including aspirin-sensitive asthma
- Active peptic ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding, perforation or mechanical obstruction, and any condition in which stimulating gastric motility is unsafe
- Known QT prolongation, significant electrolyte disturbance or underlying cardiac disease, and co-administration with QT-prolonging medicines or potent CYP3A4 inhibitors
- Moderate to severe hepatic impairment, severe renal impairment, prolactin-releasing pituitary tumour, and the third trimester of pregnancy
Side effects
- Nausea, heartburn, abdominal pain or dyspepsia
- Dry mouth, headache or drowsiness
- Dizziness, ringing in the ears or fluid retention
- Raised prolactin, which may cause breast tenderness or galactorrhoea
- Uncommonly, gastrointestinal bleeding, deranged liver or renal function, or cardiac rhythm disturbance; seek medical advice promptly if these occur

What is Napromist D 500 used for?
It is prescribed for acute migraine and for rheumatic, musculoskeletal or menstrual pain where nausea is also present. Naproxen provides the anti-inflammatory and analgesic action while domperidone controls nausea and vomiting.
Why does Napromist D 500 contain domperidone?
Domperidone is an anti-emetic and prokinetic. It reduces nausea and vomiting and promotes gastric emptying, which is often slowed during a migraine attack. Including it in the same tablet lets one medicine address both the pain and the nausea.
Is Napromist D 500 a migraine tablet?
Acute migraine is one of the main reasons this naproxen and domperidone combination is prescribed, but it is also used for other painful inflammatory and menstrual conditions with nausea. It is a prescription medicine, so use it only as directed by your physician.
