Indications
- Fever in children, including post-immunisation pyrexia
- Pain and inflammation of the throat, ear and upper respiratory tract
- Dental and teething discomfort
- Musculoskeletal pain following minor childhood injury
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Mefenamic Acid, Paracetamol or other fenamates
- Neonates and infants below the age judged appropriate by the prescriber
- Active gastrointestinal ulceration, bleeding or inflammatory bowel disease
- Significant hepatic or renal impairment, or a dehydrated child
Side effects
- Loose stools or diarrhoea
- Nausea, vomiting and abdominal discomfort
- Drowsiness or irritability
- Skin rash and other hypersensitivity reactions (uncommon)

Can Meftamist Plus DS Syrup be given without a prescription?
No. It is a Schedule H medicine and is dispensed only against a valid prescription. Because it contains an NSAID as well as paracetamol, the amount and the interval between doses must be set by a physician and measured with a proper dosing device.
