Frequently asked questions

What is Oflomist M Suspension used for?

Oflomist M is prescribed for acute infective diarrhoea and dysentery where both bacterial and protozoal organisms may be involved, including amoebiasis and giardiasis. The simethicone in the formula addresses the bloating that often accompanies these episodes.

What is the composition of Oflomist M Suspension?

Each 5 ml contains Ofloxacin IP 50 mg, Metronidazole Benzoate IP equivalent to Metronidazole 100 mg, and Simethicone IP 20 mg. Ofloxacin covers aerobic enteric bacteria, metronidazole covers anaerobes and protozoa, and simethicone addresses the trapped gas that comes with the episode.

Why does Oflomist M contain Simethicone?

Simethicone is an anti-foaming agent that is not absorbed from the gut. It breaks down trapped gas bubbles in the intestine, which relieves the bloating, distension and flatulence that commonly accompany infective diarrhoea.
