Indications

  • Lower respiratory tract infections, including community-acquired pneumonia and acute exacerbations of bronchitis
  • Non-gonococcal urethritis, cervicitis and uncomplicated chlamydial infection
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease, as part of a combination regimen
  • Adjunct in susceptible sexually transmitted infections, including syphilis in penicillin-allergic patients

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to doxycycline, minocycline or other tetracycline antibiotics
  • Children below 8 years, and the second and third trimesters of pregnancy — tooth staining and bone growth effects
  • Breast-feeding, and significant hepatic impairment — use only if your physician advises

Side effects

  • Gastrointestinal upset — nausea, epigastric discomfort and diarrhoea
  • Photosensitivity reactions on sun-exposed skin
  • Oesophagitis if the capsule is taken with too little water or immediately before lying down

What is Doxymic LB Capsule prescribed for?

Physicians prescribe Doxymic LB for infections caused by organisms susceptible to doxycycline u2014 commonly lower respiratory tract infections, non-gonococcal urethritis, chlamydial infection and pelvic inflammatory disease as part of a combination regimen. Use it only on prescription.

Can Doxymic LB Capsule be taken with milk or antacids?

Calcium in milk, antacids, and iron or zinc supplements bind doxycycline in the gut and reduce how much is absorbed. Your physician will usually advise spacing these apart from your Doxymic LB dose. Follow the timing your doctor gives you.

Why does Doxymic LB contain Lactobacillus?

Antibiotic courses can disturb the normal bacterial population of the intestine. The Lactobacillus spores in Doxymic LB are included to help support that flora while doxycycline therapy is in progress. It does not change how the antibiotic works.
