Montelukast Sodium IP equivalent to Montelukast 4 mg + Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride IP 2.5 mg per 5 ml
Rx RespiratoryIndications
- Seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, including sneezing, rhinorrhoea, nasal itch and watery eyes
- Allergic rhinitis occurring together with mild persistent asthma, where leukotriene cover is also wanted
- Allergic symptoms in patients for whom daytime sedation must be avoided
- Adjunctive control of upper airway allergic symptoms not adequately settled by an antihistamine alone
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to montelukast, fexofenadine or any excipient of the tablet
- Patients with a history of neuropsychiatric reactions to montelukast, in whom the benefit-risk balance must be reassessed
- Use with caution and specialist advice in significant renal impairment, in the elderly, and in pregnancy or breastfeeding
Side effects
- Headache, dizziness or fatigue
- Nausea, abdominal discomfort or dyspepsia
- Dry mouth and, uncommonly, drowsiness despite fexofenadine being classed as non-sedating
- Neuropsychiatric effects reported with montelukast, including sleep disturbance, agitation, anxiety and mood change – report these to your physician promptly
