Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to carboxymethyl cellulose or to any other ingredient of the drops
Not a treatment for eye infection, injury or glaucoma — eye pain, marked redness, discharge or sudden change in vision needs medical assessment, not a lubricant
Do not use if the solution changes colour, becomes cloudy, or the seal is damaged; for topical ophthalmic use only, never for injection
Contact lens wearers should use the drops only as directed by an eye-care professional

Side effects

Brief blurring of vision immediately after instillation
Transient stinging, burning or a sensation of something in the eye
Eye redness or watering
Uncommonly, an allergic reaction with itching, lid swelling or persistent irritation — discontinue and consult a doctor
