Frequently asked questions

What is Levocetrimist 10 tablet used for?

Levocetrimist 10 contains levocetirizine and is prescribed for seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis — sneezing, a runny or itchy nose and watery eyes — as well as allergic conjunctivitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria. Take it as directed by your physician.

Is Levocetrimist 10 the same as cetirizine?

Not quite. Levocetirizine is the active R-enantiomer of cetirizine, the half of the molecule responsible for H1-receptor blockade. It binds the receptor more tightly and lets go more slowly, which is why it is used as a once-daily antihistamine for allergic rhinitis.

Can Levocetrimist 10 be taken during the day?

Levocetirizine is a low-sedation antihistamine and most people tolerate it during working hours, but drowsiness is still possible. Until you know how it affects you, take care with driving and machinery, and avoid alcohol. Follow the timing your physician advises.
